Leah grew up in Austin, Texas in the Tarrytown neighborhood near Camp Mabry. She attended Casis Elementary; Baker 6th Grade Center; O.Henry Jr. High; and Austin High School. Leah grew up as a gymnast with Crenshaw's Athletic Club, competing gymnastics until the time of her high school graduation.
She attended Hollins University in Virginia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Fine Art Photography and French. During college, she did a year abroad in Paris through the Hollins Abroad program, and spent the summer of 1987 traveling through Europe. After the return from her abroad studies, Leah focused on Pinhole Photography and the social sciences.
Leah moved to NYC after graduating from college. She worked in administrative positions first for a law firm, then for a commercial photography company until deciding to obtain her Master of Fine Arts. For her graduate studies she attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, graduating in 1995. After obtaining her masters, she stayed on at Pratt and worked as the Assistant to the Chair of the Graduate Fine Arts Program, in addition to professorial positions at both Pratt Institute and William Patterson University.
She returned to Austin in 2001, locating in at Lake Travis of Austin, in an area known as Hudson Bend, near Lakeway. She created Peace of Mind House Cleaning business around 2004 and established long term relationships with a small group of clients.
In 2014, Leah studied MBSR (Mindfulness-based stress reduction, created by Jon Kabat-Zinn). This intensive mindfulness training program assists people with stress, anxiety, depression and pain. Leah has relatively severe scoliosis of the spine, and had a life-altering car accident the year she graduated high school. During her adolescent years she wore a milwaukee back brace for her scoliosis. As an adult, she is in treatment with a doctor who specializes in CBP (Chiropractic BioPhysics).
Leah obtained a Sound Healing Certificate in 2020 with Meditate School of Mindfulness & Sound Healing, studying with Bill Glisclair-Sullivan, Michelle Rassner Cash, and Rich Gausman.
Leah obtained her 200 Hr Teacher Certification in 2022 through Ace of Cups Massage and Wellness Center, located in Austin, Texas. She registered with Yoga Alliance upon completion of the certification. Her studies with Ace of Cups curriculum included Anatomy for Yoga; Yoga Philosophy (Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, History of Yoga); Pranayama, Meditation, and Chanting; and a solid foundation in teaching yoga, led by a certified Iyengar yoga teacher and two elite trauma-informed certified Ayurvedic Yoga professionals.
She obtained her Yin Yoga teaching certification in 2023 through YogaRenew, studying with Kate Lombardo.
Leah has been practicing yoga since 2012. She has studied with various teachers and guest lectures through Yoga Yoga of Austin; LifeForce Yoga with Amy Weintraub; SuperChill Yoga; Flow Yoga Austin; Corazon Yoga; and HarmonyLabATX.
